Hello dear crafters. We started offering COD facility in response to an ever increasing demand from crafters who find it difficult to manage payments through bank deposit. As we said this was a trial which we hoped to turn out to be reliable and efficient. Unfortunately it failed to meet the standards we have always strived to maintain. As a result COD option has been suspended. We are now setting up an account with TCS for COD service. They have an excellent network and they provide next day delivery for COD as well. So fingers crossed we should be able to resume COD soon.
Today I’m sharing with you a keepsake box and a birthday card that I made to go with it.
I used a round paper mache box; 4 inch round and 4 inch in height. I started by giving it a couple of coats of cream acrylic paint letting the first dry before painting on the second coat. It is important for the paint to be applied in a thin layer. Its more even this way and dries very quickly.
I decide to use some Prima ‘Vines’ to build a wreath on the lid top. I used hot glue to stick the vine in place. Next I used a large blue flower from the Prima Free Spirit Funky Flowers pack as a focal point and then added more flowers and leaves to go round the wreath. I stamped some butterflies on pale yellow dotted cardstock with the new Watering Can archival ink. I love this color because it is not harsh like black but is dark enough and so it can be used on soft compositions like this one. I added a chipboard piece saying ‘Share, Smile, Giggle, play, Hug often’. The background of this piece was a stark white so I smudged the edges a bit with the cream acrylic paint so it ties in with the rest of the composition.
I tied a jute trim around the lid edge and adhered some small resin roses in a few places over the trim which help keep it in place.
For the main body of the box I wrapped round some adhesive fabric tape and a cream trim on which I added some flat back pearls.I painted the inside of the box in cream and lined the inside bottom with a felt circle in case someone decides to put delicate items inside the box.
For the card I took a 6×6 Off White card and cut a window in the front using a spellbinders die from the Nestabilities Circles set.
Again I used a Flower Vine to line the window partly. I used a yellow funky flower for my focal point and added leaves and flowers to fill in the gaps. I stamped the sentiment ‘Have a Fabulous Birthday’ with the water can archival ink on the circle piece resulting from cutting the window. I sponged a bit of Scattered Straw distress ink around the edges of the circle, lined it with the window and adhered it to the inside of the card. I added two stamped butterflies to the circle. Lastly I stamped another sentiment ‘Sending you smiles on yellow dotted cardstock and adhered it to the bottom left corner of the card.
