Hello my arty crafty friends. Of course you need paper; I need paper, we all need paper amongst other things of course. We dream, eat , sleep paper and anything to do with paper. We can’t part with even the tiniest bit of this comodity. If you are wondering (and you must be) what I’m going on about then let me put you out of your misery. If you look at the side bar (on your left) you can see some links under the heading “Pages’. This is where I’m organizing scrapbooking and other paper craft supplies. I’ve added new items to the ‘imported 6×6 paper packs and some old favorites from My Minds Eye are back too. And the prices are lower so check this and other pages and let me know what you think. Please remember this is an ongoing process and I’ll be adding more pages and more stuff to the existing pages.

Before we go on to embellishment tutorials I would like to talk about templates. I’m sure you all know what a template is. For embellishments it is useful to make shape templates especially when you don’t have punches or dies for the shapes you are going to use in an embellishment.

It is important to use sturdy cardstock  for making templates so you can use them over and over. Save your templates after you have used them in a project. Organize them according to shapes for example ‘circles’, ‘Flowers’ etc.

CIRCLE TEMPLATES.

Circles are very useful. There is a lot you can do with them. Flowers, leaves, baby buggy etc. we will cover that in future tutorials.

Make circle templates by drawing around various circular objects such as tins, paint cans, Jam bottes, circular lids etc. on heavy cardstock.

Cut as neatly as possible. It is useful to mark your templates according to their size.

LEAF TEMPLATES

Using one of your circle templates cut 2 circles of identical size. Make a leaf template as following.

Make different sized templates using different sized circles.

PARTY HAT

A very simple template to make.

Designed these gift bags to hold Jewelry boxes (gifts for niece’s Sasoo Maan and sis in law). The paper is ‘Smitten’ from K and Co. And of course some pretty butterflies. Bag size

is 6x6x2.5 inch.

I know that many of you would already know how to do a posy. I, however feel that I should start with basic stuff in order to carry along everyone.

OK so let us make a posy and decorate a box with it.

Following are pictures of a posy done with hand-cut circles for which I used different circular objects.

I actually like this one better than the punched one. Kind of baby girl themed. It would look lovely on a gift bag or box or even a card.

I love butterflies; I guess everybody does. Today I’m sharing with you a Tag and a bookmark that I did using Prima Packaging and some winged wonders.

Prima embellishments come in rather pretty packages and it is hard to throw away the packing. The tag was done using a Prima embellishment packaging card. I added some stamping, butterflies, some Tim Holtz tissue tape and a few other bits and bobs. The word FLY was diecut and distressed with walnut stain distress ink.

THe butterfles were transferred from patterned paper (memory box I think) to Canvas, cut and adhered to the tag. I stamped a large clock on off white cardstock with walnut stain, to mimic the clock on the packing card and cut into half then adhered to the top along with a canvas butterfly. The right edge was embellished with tissue tape. I added a strip of Memory box paper on the left, a couple more butterflies and a trim at the bottom and was finally satisfied with the tag.

There was a longish piece of card left which I used to make a bookmark.

Applied some tissue tape, down the left edge. A butterfly sticker, and tissue taped covered canvas loop at the top was all I did to make this bookmark.
