About Shereen Aftab

Being a medical doctor by profession, who chose to specialize in immunology, Shereen held the position of Assistant Professor in a teaching hospital followed by working as Director Merchandizing in her family business. However being a crafter at heart she eventually decided to set up her crafts business ‘Many Happy Returns’. Difficulties faced by crafters in getting craft supplies inspired her to start a craft supplies business which has been running now for nearly three years.

About Saba Musharrif

Over the years, Saba has been part of two very different industries. She was heading the Pakistan based Production Department, at an international eLearning firm, 360training.comwhen she discovered her passion. Being an extremely creative person at heart she decided to give her creative work a professional platform and launched Favors & More (2010); A small business focused towards personalized hand crafted products. Her work has been presented at prestigious entrepreneurial events organized by BWA, ASEAN, SAARC, and The Crafters Expo. She blogs regularly at

sabas-craftland.blogspot.com, has won international craft challenges, and has been a guest designer too.  A staunch believer in ‘learning by sharing’ she is now helping Artful-Crafting set up their design team.

I’m sharing with you a configurations box that I just finished. I used a 5.5”x5.5” configurations box which has 5 compartments.

I wanted to make a girly box. I started by covering the inside of 4 of the individual boxes with paper from the Pink Paislee ‘Bella Rouge’ collection. I used small designs and text. I adhered some mica fragments to the inside back walls of these boxes too. I inverted the remaining small box, painted it with picket fence distress paint and covered it wih mica.

I also covered the outside of the basic configurations box with paper from the Bella Rouge collection. I used Mod Podge Matte to adhere and seal the papers.

As you can see the configurations boxes are quite deep and you need 3D embellishments to make the most impact.

For the upper right compartment I dressed up two glass vials with rhiestone stars, glitter inside and outside and a couple of Maya Road Star Trinket pins. The larger of the two contains a silver glitter paper scroll tied with a dainty ribbon.

For the upper left and bottom right compartments I used some pink net, mulberry flowers and pearl string for embellishment.

I chose a small tile saying ‘you light up my world’ for the middle box on the left and added some net in the background.

Finally a added a Kaisercraft wooden frame to the front of the inverted box. I painted the frame and applied some glass glitter using glossy accents and added some rhinestones. I raised the frame on dimensional foam so a picture can go behind it. Here are some closeups
