Sharing a project that’s very close to my heart. I made this memory book to honour the memory of my late mother. This was a gift for my Khala who was truly my mom’s soul-mate. This book contains memories of her contributed by her children and their spouses and her grand-children all of whom are indebted in some way to her for whatever we have been able to achieve in life.

I used Tim Holtz Alterations die ‘Suitcase’ for the book. For the covers I cut out the pieces from chipboard and canvas. The inner pages were diecut from chipboard and patterned paper to cover them. Papers are from Prima ‘Printery’ collection.

For the covers I adhered Canvas to the outside. I used Distress inks in ‘Brushed Courdroy’ and ‘Vintage Photo’ to give a vintage look to the covers. The brads are from Tim Holtz Idea-ology. I used some jump rings to hang a ‘stop watch’ and ‘notebook’ charm with a trinket pin to a crochet bow that I had tied around one of the binding rings.

For the title I cut out ‘REMEMBERING’ from one of the patterned papers glued it to a piece of chipboard and gold embossed the edges. For ‘AMMI’ I used stickers that I enhanced with a coat of glossy accents. Again I gold embossed the edges of this piece.

Inside front cover. Butterflies were stamped. Flower is from Prima, word stickers from Tim Holtz Chit Chat sticker book.

The first page with my mother’s picture. The flowers on the left were punched with EK Success Retro flower punch and stamped with ‘Definition’ stamps from Stamping Bella. Rest of the flowers are from Prima as are the alphabet stickers.

Another picture and stamped flowers.

The dressform image was stamped with Ranger archival jet black ink. I used this image quite a few times in the book.

I added pockets with tags throughout to accommodate the memories that I hand wrote for everyone onto tags. I also added a little booklet to create space. Fortunately I was able to get everything into the memory book. For embellishment I used stamps, stamped flowers, crochet trim, brads and fussy cut elements.

A little booklet with a velcro closure.

As I mentioned this was a gift so I made a gift bag to go with it. I used patterned paper, some hand-dyed seam binding, a pearly button, some handmade distressed flowers and fussy cut stamped butterflies to adorn a kraft bag. I also added stitching details to the papers.

Till next time.

With great joy, we introduce you to our Guest Designer for July;

Anaum Gulzar

Anaum was the winner of our “Unusual Stamping” challenge, and we are delighted to have her as Guest Designer for July.

Here is an absolutely stunning card she created for us, to share, with all of you.

Hello everyone. Super excited to be the guest designer for Challenge 4 : Celebrate with Gold
This anniversary card is made with Spellbinders Imperial Square die with the middle oval frame from Spellbinders Fancy Framed tags 4. The edge of the background is distressed with Tim Holtz Barn Door. The bigger squares are 2 basically, the lower one is black and the upper one has been liberally heat embossed in gold embossing powder. Both squares were attached a bit offset to give an impression of shade. The flourish is dabbed with Adirondacks Gold acrylic paint and topped with red glitter.
Hope you enjoy the card.
Bless you &

Its time for our technique post!

Distress paints give a gorgeous color to texture paste, so today, Amina will be showing you how to color texture paste using distress paints.

(Don’t know what texture paste is? read about it here)

By combining this technique with stencils, Amina created the above cards. The tutorial is available at my lime journal.

Hope you are having a lot of fun this Eid!!

Oh, and you can find texture paste (matt and clear) along with a range of distress paints at our webstore.

Take Care,

Saba

I just absolutely love Memorybox Dies. Beautiful designs and they cut so cleanly and effortlessly. So when the latest package from Memorybox arrived I helped my self to a bunch of them. And here’s a card I made using ‘Floating Butterfly Frame’.

I wanted a colorful glimmery background for the butterfly frame diecut. I made one using ‘Dazzling Diamonds’ Glimmer Mist on a piece of heavy watercolor paper followed by distress sprays and spritzing with water to blend the colors. A heat tool is indispensable here as is a heavy watercolor paper which can handle a lot of water.  I described the technique in my last post.

I diecut the frame from medium weight off white cardstock. I adhered it to the background pc. using 1/8 inch double sided tape around the edges.

I chose a silver 6×6 card. For the glitter  I applied 3 strips of 1/8 inch double-sided tape next to each other. I applied different colors of glitter by exposing the adhesive on the tapes one at a time. I used Peacock Feathers, Seedless Grapes and Picked Raspberry distress glitter. I adhered the assembled diecut piece onto the front of the card at a slight angle. To finish off I used Prima Crystals on the card and the butterflies.
