Baby Themed Shadowbox

So there are these new craft goodies I was dying to use since they arrived. I decided to make a baby themed shadow box using Prima’s ‘Heaven Sent’, Scrapiniec Shadow Box and Blue Fern Chipboard.

I used the 6×6 inch shadow box from Scrapiniec.  The shadow box comes un-assembled so it is easy to prepare you sufaces and embellish the main piece before putting the box together. I applied white gesso to all the box surfaces. Next I painted the exterior of these pieces with ‘Evergreen Bough’ distress paint, except the decorative trim that goes on the front. The trim was covered with versamark ink and embossed using ‘Oatmeal’ embossing powder from Blue Fern.

I then started embellishing the box base by adding a piece of patterned paper from the Heaven Sent collection. I chose ‘Baby Buggy’ chipboard diecut as the focus for my shadow box.

I gessoed the chipboard and then covered it with some peachy acrylic paint. I fussy cut a hot air balloon and a bunny  from the collection to layer the buggy which was embellished with some crochet trim, fussy cut measuring tape, Prima and other mulberry flowers and a pebble from my stash.  ‘Special Delivery’ was also cut from one of the papers and added to the box.

At this point I assembled the box. Next I glued the trim to the front using Aleene’s wood glue. Finally I embellished the front with mulberry flowers, resin roses and some Prima wire thread tendrils.

Some products used in the project.
